Bangkok (23rd - 27th Oct)

Finally the boyfriend and I made our long awaited trip to Bangkok!
Day 1: Woke up really early and boyfriend's dad drove us to the airport. Had Macdonalds breakfast there and bought some macarons to accompany us on the flight hehehe!

We touched down in bkk at about 10am (bkk time) if I remembered correctly! Took a cab to our hotel, The Residence Rajtaevee, which was about 45 mins to a hour ride, and checked in to our hotel! It was better than I expected, stayed there during my previous trip and it wasn't as fantastic, this time round though, I think they may have done a renovation! Everything looks pretty new!

A look of the hotel room, really clean and spacious, with a "see through" toilet, I'm guessing it's for people to watch tv whilst taking a dump, at least that's what we did!
Changed from shoes to slippers, then took a 10 mins walk to the Bangkok must go to fashion mall, Platinum! Basically we just come out of our hotel, turn right, and turn right again when you see a 7-11 at the corner and walk all the way straight.
Headed straight up to the last level of platinum, to fill our tummies from the 2 hours 30 mins flight there at the food court. Our first meal, of course, was Phad Thai! What's Thailand without having Phad Thai!

Yum yum yum hehe! It wasn't too bad, but I suppose when you're on a holiday, everything isn't really that bad even it is! We then combed through every level starting from the top floors all the way down. I wasn't that into shopping, because I was merely there for the food and to spend some quality time with the boyfriend, thus I didn't really looted much back, oh well. After reaching the ground level, we proceeded to the second Platinum, just beside each other. There really wasn't much there compared to the first Platinum so we left shortly back to our hotel.
After taking a short rest, the boyfriend and I decided that we should walk over to Siam Paragon and check it out. In order to get there, all you have to do is to exit the hotel, instead of turning right to go to Platinum, you turn left, walk all the way straight, across the river, and follow the road past a hotel, and then cross a small road. Really convenient huh! Siam Paragon is more of the atas mall housing branded brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs etc. As tourists on a budget, obviously the top floors wasn't suitable for us, what we kept going back for, was the food court and food stalls situated there! Food there is not exactly any more expensive compared to the other food court just cause it's Siam Paragon, and they have all types of cuisines there! Western all the way to Japanese, and even Garett's (which we couldn't help buying!) We had our dinner there and then headed back to our hotel for an early night to prepare us for the busy days we had ahead! We fell asleep easily as we both didn't get much rest the night before and had to wake up early to catch our flight.

Day 2: We (or I) woke up at 11 (we had our alarms set to 11 for everyday we were there), and took a shower, put on some make up, before waking the lazy ass boyfriend up to prepare. Left the hotel and walked to Siam Paragon as the nearest BTS, Siam Square, was located nearby. We went to the food court to fill our little tummies first and then headed off to Terminal 21 for some shopping! The boyfee bought two shirts there, one for himself and the other for Daniel, and as well as The Face Shop nose strip for ourselves! It's not as easy on the wallet buying clothing there for girls as the clothing there were pretty expensive, if not, REALLY EXPENSIVE. I saw a dress retailing at about SGD$100 and I really couldn't believe it, all things aside, the material was really good, but come on, $100 for a dress is like day light extortion from a brand less shop!
After finishing Terminal 21, we took the train to Chinatown to take a look. Initially, we just wanted to head straight there, but we saw on our itinerary that the Golden Buddha, which we were heading there the next day, was just minutes walk from Chinatown, and decided that we might as well go there first. We met a really jolly and nice Singaporean lady there, who was on a trip there to accompany her husband, that led us to the Golden Buddha or not we would have been lost. Nothing much there, you have to pay to see the Golden Buddha, and ladies, remember to be wearing a shirt with sleeves and jeans there as I had to rent shawls to cover my arms and legs for 20 baht. Forget the 20 baht, but it was just really embarrassing. After which we headed to Chinatown. When we were there, Bangkok was holding some nation wide vegetarian food festival and lining the streets of Chinatown was vegetarian food stalls. Didn't buy anything except a bottle of water as the food didn't really appeal to us. We then walked back to the train station and took the BTS to the Banyan Tree Resort, for the most iconic bar in Bangkok, the Moon Bar. Situated on the 61st level of the building, you have to take the lift to the 59th level and climb up. It's a bar without a roof therefore, be sure to go only when it's not raining.

Here's a picture of the view, simply stunning.

And our drinks, first up, the mojito, and the second, the bar's signature, Vertigo Sunset.

Drinks were pretty meh, costing us about 1200 baht in total which was really steep given their drinks standards, but the skyline of Bangkok made up for it.
After a great night out, we headed back to our hotel, and rested our tired bodies.

Day 3: So since we completed our to-do list to visit the Golden Buddha the day before, we headed to MBK mall, a mall well known for people who wants to "zhng" their phones. Prior to that, we booked our tickets to the Calypso Lady-boy show at Asiatique the night before at our hotel. After shopping around for a bit, we settled down to have our lunch at a ramen store. I calculated that two bowls of pretty average ramen and water only cost us about SGD$7? It was really cheap.
Finishing MBK mall, same strategy, starting from the top floors all the way down, we left for Asiatique. We had to take a BTS to a station, alight and walk to the ferry terminal for a free 15 mins ferry ride there. We had a really good dinner at one of the Korean dining there. I had their cold noodles which I'm really craving for now, at this ungodly hour.

Let me show you:
My cold ramen.

The boyfriend's kimchi rice.

And an alcoholic drink, Soju.

After dinner, we headed in for the lady boy show at 8.15pm, which was pretty entertaining, and I would really suggest making a trip to Asiatique for it. Reached our hotel pretty late, and decided to blow dry my hair but I was too lazy so I got the boyfriend to do it for me, and guess what. He got my hair caught in the hair dryer. Had to cut it off with a pen knife. Luckily it was just a few strands or else I would have really killed him.

Day 4: We headed out for brunch at Siam Paragon, had this really good fishball tomyum glass noodles! Then went to Pandora in the departmental store and bought an elephant charm for my bracelet!

Can't really capture the charm on my camera so I searched the web for a professionally taken picture.

We pretty much finished everything we wanted to do except for Chocolate Ville later in the early evening, so we went to the rest of the shopping malls in the area doing nothing in particular.

Had this Hokkaido green tea milk that was really good.

Headed back to our hotel late afternoon and took a cab, about 45 mins to a hour to Chocolate Ville, basically an entire restaurant, occupying an entire "park." The place was great and apart from the distance, it was a really nice place to go.
We had our dinner there, I had carbonara and the boyfriend had steak, with baked potato skin as our side.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.
My carbonara. Tasted really great, but my appetite wasn't there because I wasn't feeling that well or I would have enjoyed it more.

Boyfee's steak, not sure was it good or not as I don't eat steak, but I had his vegetables though.

And our baked potato skin! Which was really pricey, the price of my carbonara.

Took a cab back after dinner as I wasn't feeling that good to stay any longer. Never felt so happy being back in the comfort of my hotel.

Day 5: Woke up really early that morning to head over to Chatuchak as we had to be back earlier for our flight that evening. Took the BTS there and had really disgusting fishball noodles there, and walked around for a bit before realizing there wasn't anything much that early in the morning so we took a cab back to Platinum to do more shopping! Shopped around for a bit and then headed upstairs to a Japanese restaurant on the level of the food court and had really good lunch since breakfast was not filling and my appetite was back. We bought pork floss crackers for everybody and headed back to our hotel to check out and cab to the airport. My pen knife I carried with me on overseas trip was confiscated at the departure and it upset me quite a bit, but I was cheered up by my favorite TWG macarons we purchased at the airport!

Yums!

Slept all the way on the flight back and only ate a macaron when we were landing to try to lessen the pressure in my ears. Touched down and boyfriend's dad came to pick us up to boyfriend's place.
Had a really great trip and I hope I'll be able to go back soon. That's all for now!
